The mission of the Division of Community & Health Systems is to increase cancer prevention and awareness by engaging in partnerships, collecting and reporting data, assuring quality data, providing public and professional education, and assuring availability of quality services for screening, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care.


Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is an annual statewide telephone surveillance system designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Cancer Registry
Collects cancer incidence, survival and mortality data to assist in the development of cancer education, prevention and screening programs.

Comprehensive Cancer
Works with stakeholders and partners to develop a common vision for comprehensive cancer control, create a coordinated statewide cancer control plan and assemble available resources to carry out the plan.

Tobacco Prevention & Control Program
Our Mission is to improve and protect the health of North Dakotans by reducing the negative health and economic consequences of the state's number-one cause of preventable disease and death --- tobacco use.

Women's Way Program
Works to reduce mortality from breast and cervical cancer by increasing education and screening among low-income, underserved, high-risk and minority women.
