Mosquito Information Mosquitoes are associated with the spread of West Nile virus. Currently, 36 mosquito species live in North Dakota. In North Dakota, approximately 100 mosquito traps are set up each summer, with at least one trap placed in each county. The traps are emptied each week and the mosquitoes are sent to the North Dakota Division of Laboratory Services for counting and identification.
