Q11: Are you no limited in any way in any of your usual activities because of arthritis or joint symptoms?

Q12: Do arthritis or joint symptoms now affect whether you work, the type of work you do, or the amount of work you do? (Refers to work for pay)

R1: At risk for ever told had arthritis: Persons ever told by a doctor that they had arthritis among all participants

R2: At risk for doctor diagnosed arthritis (2002 and later) Persons ever told by a doctor that they had some form of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus or fibromyalgia?

R3: At risk for chronic joint symptoms (2002 and later) Persons reporting joint symptoms within the past 30 days which started more than three months ago.
