The greatest risk factor for all cancers is tobacco use.
Smokers are 10 times more likely to develop lung
cancer as compared to non-smokers.
Many cancers are preventable by avoiding tobacco
(i.e., cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chew, spit, snuff,
etc.).
Through
research papers, special reports, and annual surveillance reports,
the North Dakota Cancer Registry monitors cancer trends among all
residents in the state.
