June 27, 2016 Webinar - Engaging Men in Sexual Violence Prevention through the Lens of Gender Roles: Presented by Kathy Smith and Dayna Olson, Rape and Abuse Crisis Center (RACC), Fargo
There is a positive interdependence between men and women. As Tony Porter says, "Our liberation as men is directly tied to the liberation of women." Many men and women believe this is true, and a larger conversation about healthy masculinity is becoming an increasingly popular approach to preventing sexual violence and intimate partner violence, which is a public health issue that affects us all. But it wasn’t always that way. This recording illustrates how RACC’s effort to engage men in the prevention of intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual violence (SV) evolved over time and how the prevention leaders within their community decided to prioritize the conversation around healthy masculinity. The webinar will look at some of the challenges and successes of this evolution to unite everyone in the prevention of intimate partner and sexual violence.
