The Division of Vital Records provides registration and certification of the vital events that occur in North Dakota. These events include births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and divorces. We also provide statistical information on a wide range of categories relating to these events.

Vital Records Fee increase July 1, 2019: As approved during the last legislative session, the Division of Vital Records will raise the fees for certified copies of birth, death and fetal death records effective July 1, 2019. This change brings North Dakota vital record fees level with other midwestern states. These fees have not changed since 1983.The table below shows the old and new fee structures:
